New Hampshire:

Effective January 1, 2011, NH began accepting the “designated home state” for adjusters that live in states without a resident license. This change will eliminate continuing education requirements for non-resident adjusters. Only NH resident adjusters or those that select NH as their “designated home state” will be required to complete NH approved continuing education for future renewals. Every 2 years, at least 60 days prior to the renewal date of their license, persons holding an adjusters license shall be certified by the insurance department as having completed 20 hours of continuing education instruction. Licensees with workers’ compensation authority shall comply with the approved 10 credit hours of workers’ compensation and 10 credit hours of multiline requirement. Those licensees without workers’ compensation authority may satisfy their 20 credit hour requirement exclusively with multi-line approved credits or any combination of approved workers’ compensation or multi-line courses. If a nonresident licensee has complied with the continuing education requirements of his or her state of residence or designated home state, he or she will not be required to comply with the requirements of this state.”

Oklahoma:

The Oklahoma DOI has introduced a new CE course option for licensees that are over the age of 65 and have been in the insurance industry for 20 or more years. The new course is Insurance Mentoring. The course will require the licensee to relay insurance knowledge by mentoring and educating others in the industry and citizens. This can be done in various ways. Examples include, but are not limited to, discussing insurance at a civic organization, church membership, professional organization, with fellow insurance professionals, volunteering as a SHIP counselor, or assisting someone in understanding basic insurance concepts and ideas. A licensee participating in this CE option would sign an attestation that they have contributed twenty-four (24) hours of mentoring in the current license period or will contribute twenty-four (24) hours of mentoring in the upcoming license period. A new signed attestation and requirements must be submitted for each renewal period. The completion of this option would meet the CE requirements, worth twenty-four (24) hours of CE including 3 hours of ethics and 2 hours of legislative updates. The above requirements MUST be completed prior to the renewal date of the licensee.

North Carolina:

A number of agents have contacted Agent Services Division and voiced concern that they had never been notified that the Department had eliminated the continuing education (CE) exemption for AGE. The Division has made a decision to allow agents who qualify for the AGE CE exemption on or before December 31, 2011 to apply and obtain the exemption. The Agent Services Division is sending an e-mail notification advising agents, insurance companies and insurance associations about the elimination of the AGE exemption and the final deadline of December 31, 2011 to apply for the exemption. In addition the Division is updating the Department’s website with this notice. Licensees must submit an application for the CE exemption to Prometric. The Exemption Request form is available on the Prometric website at http://www.prometric.com/CE/ncceprod.
