The Connecticut Department of Insurance will provide electronic appointment renewal processing with the National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR). All terminations must be posted to the NIPR’s PDB by Friday April 23, 2010. On May 1, 2010 the NIPR website will display the invoices and a list of appointments due for the renewal. Electronic payment options offered by NIPR will immediately reflect the invoices as paid and will forward payment and renewal transactions to Connecticut within 24 hours of that payment. All appointment transactions will continue to be processed as usual with NIPR during renewals. Any new appointments that are not included on the renewal invoices will be included on the July quarterly and then again at the next renewal period. All companies will be responsible for paying the NIPR transaction fees including companies that reside in states that do not have appointment renewal fees.
California:
An insurance producer who sells flood insurance may satisfy the minimum training and education requirements by completing a 3-hour course related to the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) which was approved by CDI’s Producer Licensing Bureau’s Education Section. Recently, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) received requests from insurance producers for advanced flood insurance training courses to be taken by individuals who previously completed the 3-hour basic flood insurance course. In response to these requests, FEMA prepared the NFIP Advanced Training Topics and Objectives. Kentucky:
Effective Tuesday, January 19, 2010, the Administrative Office of the Courts releases a new ONLINE criminal background request system. In an effort to meet the high volume of requests for criminal record reports, the AOC will make AOCFastCheck, a new automated online system, available to anyone who wants to become a registered user. There will be a standard fee of $15.00 for all state criminal background reports. This online service will assist all Insurance Applicants who are required to provide Kentucky a Criminal Background Check prior to licensure.
Pennsylvania:
The Pennsylvania Insurance Department will hold a public meeting to discuss the testing program for insurance licenses on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. in the Sheraton Harrisburg-Hershey at 4650 Lindle Road in Harrisburg.
