Beginning with licenses that will expire on December 31, 2009, the California Department of Insurance (CDI) will no longer mail renewal notices to individuals and business entities licensed through CDI’s Producer Licensing Bureau. Instead, CDI will email licensees a renewal notification to their email address on record. The email notification will include the license number, license term, license type, and information regarding their continuing education requirements.
Michigan:
The new CE review date will be based on the month and year of a producer’s birth. Licensees with dates of birth in odd years will have CE due the first day of their birth month every two years in all odd years. Licensees with dates of birth in even years will have CE due the first day of the birth month every two years in all even years. Producers and Solicitors with an even year date of birth will have CE due the first day of their birth month in 2010 and every two years thereafter. Producers and Solicitors with an odd year date of birth will have CE due the first day of their birth month in 2011 and every two years thereafter. Producers and Solicitors with CE due January through June 2010 will be granted a one-time 90-day extension to complete the 24 credit hours.
Oklahoma:
Effective November 1, 2009, the Oklahoma Insurance Department’s Continuing Education Guidelines will be revised to comply with those recently adopted by the National Association of Insurance Commissioner (NAIC). As recommended by the NAIC, online continuing education providers must ensure all courses include review questions at the end of each chapter/unit. Online providers must prevent access to the final exam of each course until each set of review questions have been answered with a 70% passing score. The new guidelines will affect new and renewal course submissions. The Department will also begin using the new CER form as of November 1, 2009.
Colorado:
Pearson VUE, in cooperation with the Colorado Insurance Department, has announced changes to their insurance pre-licensing education curriculum outline. The announced revisions will be reflected on licensing examinations offered on and after January 1, 2010. Individuals preparing for an insurance licensing exam that will be administered on or after the announced implementation date are urged to ensure that their study materials reflect the most recent curriculum revisions. The new Licensing Information Bulletins will be available from Pearson VUE online at www.pearsonvue.com.
