North Carolina:
In early 2010, the NC CE Administrator, Prometric, will require providers to report CE credits with the licensee’s NPN in lieu of a partial SSN. It is important that licensees know their NPN when they sign the attendance roster at classroom CE courses or enroll in correspondence CE. Licensees are encouraged to assist their CE providers by knowing their NPN to ensure timely CE credit reporting. Agents and adjusters can look up their NPN at the NIPR website www.nipr.com by selecting National Producer Number (NPN) Access. Enter the last name and the full social security number. They may also look-up their NPN by using the Agent Information Portal on the Department’s website at www.ncdoi.com.
California:
The California Department of Insurance (CDI) recently developed two Candidate Information Bulletins (bulletins) which are available on its Web site at www.insurance.ca.gov (in the search box on the main page, type CIB to retrieve the link to the bulletins). Specifically, the bulletins provide applicants with information regarding prelicensing educational objectives; describes CDI’s examination site procedures; provides links to sample examination questions; offers test taking strategies; and finally, provides driving directions and public transportation options to CDI’s examination sites in Sacramento, San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego.
Illinois:
All insurance companies and insurance producers transacting business in Illinois are notified that the Illinois Department of Insurance will immediately begin to accept documents and notices submitted on behalf of insurance producers through the NAICINIPR Attachments Warehouse, which will allow for the electronic filing of insurance producer licensing- related documents. The Attachments Warehouse is a secure regulatory database which electronically receives, stores and shares licensing documents with the states that are submitted with respect to applications and/or renewals of insurance producer licenses through the National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR), a non-profit affiliate of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC).
