Minnesota:

Effective July 1, 2010, all insurance producers and adjusters will be required to complete 3 hours of Ethics as part of their total 24 hours of CE due each renewal period.

All currently approved MN education providers who feel that they have a 1- to 3-hour course, already actively approved with the MN Dept of Commerce, that would fulfill the “area of ethics” to send the Insurance Department an email that lists the course name and course number and includes an outline of the course. The DOI will review the course outline and, if it is approved, the course will be amended to the ETHICS course category. This will be done at no additional cost to the Provider.

Oklahoma:

Effective April 1, 2010, the Oklahoma Insurance Department will no longer issue paper licenses to non-resident licensees. Resident Oklahoma producers and Adjusters will continue to receive paper licenses with a plastic ID card. All Oklahoma licensees will now have the opportunity to self-print their licenses online and free of charge through a subscription to Sircon’s new producer compliance service known as ProducerEDGE.

Colorado:

Pearson VUE, in cooperation with the Colorado Insurance Department, has announced changes to their insurance pre-licensing education curriculum outline. The announced revisions will be reflected on licensing examinations offered on and after June 7, 2010. Individuals preparing for an insurance licensing exam that will be administered on or after the announced implementation date are urged to ensure that their study materials reflect the most recent curriculum revisions. The new Licensing Information Bulletins will be available from Pearson VUE online at www.pearsonvue.com.

Kentucky:

The Kentucky Department of Insurance has a new web address: http://insurance.ky.gov/. All Administrative Orders beginning 2009 have been posted to Kentucky’s website. Also, Kentucky is now sending courtesy information to licensees via e-mail. Therefore the Department strongly encourages all Licensees to update all addresses, including their email address immediately. Kentucky law requires licensees to maintain a current address; there is a civil penalty up to $1000 for incorrect addresses on file.

Rhode Island:

R.I. Gen. Laws § 27-10-8 provides for temporary licensing of adjusters on an emergency basis to adjust losses as a result of an emergency. All emergency adjusters must be employed by an adjusting entity or an insurer licensed in Rhode Island and may only perform work for that employer as a result of the emergency license. Emergency authority to adjust claims will terminate one hundred and twenty (120) days after notice is given to the Department.
