Pearson VUE, in cooperation with the Rhode Island Insurance Department, has announced changes to their insurance pre-licensing education curriculum outline. The announced revisions will be reflected on licensing examinations offered on and after February 1, 2010. Individuals preparing for an insurance licensing exam that will be administered on or after the announced implementation date are urged to ensure that their study materials reflect the most recent curriculum revisions. The new Licensing Information Bulletins will be available from Pearson VUE online at www.pearsonvue.com.
South Carolina:
All licensed insurers are required to provide the South Carolina Department of Insurance with the contact information of the person(s) responsible for appointing producers in the state of South Carolina. Each licensed company must update this information electronically on the Department’s website at www.doi.sc.gov.
Vermont:
The Vermont Department of Insurance and Prometric, the State’s insurance licensing testing vendor, have announced extensive changes to the insurance pre-licensing education curriculum outline. The announced revisions will be reflected on licensing examinations offered on and after March 1, 2010. Individuals preparing for an insurance licensing exam that will be administered on or after the announced implementation date are urged to ensure that their study materials reflect the most recent curriculum revisions. The new Licensing Information Bulletins will be available from Prometric online approximately six weeks before the test update.
Georgia:
Effective January 1, 2010, the application process for a resident agent license will no longer require sponsorship by an insurer. Upon issuance of the agent license, the licensee must obtain a certificate of authority from each insurer that they will represent. Please Note: Applications for temporary licenses still require insurer sponsorship. All new resident applicants, excluding active licensees and individuals that apply for reinstatement within 6 months of expiration date, shall be required to submit electronic fingerprints. The applicant shall bear the cost for electronic fingerprinting. Details regarding the fingerprinting process can be found on the Department’s website www.gainsurance.org
Virginia:
Virginia residents will be able to apply online for a Producer license/qualification using the National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR). https://pdb.nipr.com/html/erlWelcome.html The NIPR service adds to the current service to apply online using Sircon’s Compliance Express (CX). www.sircon.com/virginia All resident and nonresident online services may be accessed from the Bureau’s website. http://www.scc.virginia.gov/division/boi/webpages/boiproducer.htm
