Effective October 1, 2009, Continuing Education (CE) functions will be transitioned from Pearson Vue to the Department of Insurance, Securities and Banking (DISB). DISB will begin managing CE functions in partnership with the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) State-Based Systems (SBS), a web-based application that is accessible from any computer with Internet connectivity. Initial provider and renewal applications and initial course and renewal applications will be available online through SBS. Providers will have the ability to track their course submissions, and will also have immediate access to demographic information to make changes in real-time. Producers will have the ability to view and print course transcripts and view approved providers and courses online. As the Department transitions to the new system, it is necessary for CE processing to be down temporarily from September 24 – 30, 2009. DISB will not be able to accept any CE credits during this time. Providers may begin CE processing on the morning of October 1, 2009, by accessing DISB’s webpage at www.disb.dc.gov.”
Wisconsin:
Wisconsin will no longer be accepting Non-Resident Renewal applications from NIPR for the 10 days preceding the license expiration date. Non-Resident Renewals will
only be available from 60 days prior to the expiration date to 10 days prior to the expiration date. This change will take effect with the November 2009 renewals. Anyone renewing during the last 10 days of a renewal period must go to www.sircon.com/wisconsin for processing in real-time.
Idaho:
The Idaho Department of Insurance announces a new feature that will aid in the submission of documents and notices from licensed producers and insurance companies. This electronic enhancement, Attachments Warehouse, will ease the filing process for producers who are licensed in multiple states. Attachments Warehouse is a secure regulatory database which electronically receives, stores, and shares licensing documents that are submitted with respect to the application and renewal of licenses through the National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR). The Reporting of Actions feature of this enhancement will allow licensed producers to electronically report administrative, criminal and civil actions to states in which they are licensed to do business. Reporting to the Warehouse will satisfy the statutory requirements of the producer to notify the Department.
