Wisconsin:

 

On Thursday, July 16th the Wisconsin Office of the Commissioner of Insurance and Pearson VUE will co-host an “Industry Day from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at the Madison Area Technical College, 211, North Carroll Street, in room D-436 in Madison. The purpose of the meeting will be to update attendees on the results of the content development meetings and to address new rules which will become effective in September. Arkansas:

 

Effective on July 15, 2009, insurers shall be responsible for ensuring that any producer that markets its product has received at least four (4) hours of annual training that addresses suitability requirements for the State of Arkansas and the mechanics of annuity products.

 

Florida:

 

The Florida Department of Financial Services in cooperation with Pearson VUE will be conducting a Pre-Licensing Education Forum on Friday, August 7th from 9:00 AM to Noon at the Embassy Suites, 8978 International Drive in Orlando. A variety of topics will be addressed including DFS going paperless, pre-licensing education courses, the Department licensing process, and a Q&A session. California:

 

Effective July 1, 2009 the California Department of Insurance (CDI) will implement two significant changes that will affect both individuals and business entities who are licensed through its Producer Licensing Bureau. First, CDI will be decreasing fees by six-percent for all insurers and insurance producers. The announcement bulletin, including the new fee schedule may be accessed through the following webpage: http://www.insurance.ca.gov/0250-insurers/0300-insurers/0200-bulletins/bulletin-noticescommiss- opinion/index.cfm Secondly, in keeping with Commissioner Poizner’s strategic initiative to have 100 percent paperless interaction with agents, brokers and insurers by 2010, also effective on July 1, 2009 CDI will no longer print and mail hard copies of its licenses. Instead, individuals and business entities will receive an email with instructions and a website link to download their license from the CDI’s website.

 

West Virginia:

 

Effective July 1, 2009, all active producers who sell long-term care insurance are required to complete a one-time training course of no less than 8-hours prior to July 1, 2010. Any new producer licensed after July 1, 2009, must complete the one-time training prior to selling any LTC products. Beginning July 1, 2010, producers are required to complete ongoing training of no less than 4-hours in each mandatory continuing education biennium subsequent to the biennium in which the one-time training was completed. The credits earned for both the 8 and 4-hour LTC courses will count towards the producer’s 24-hour CE requirement.

 

Nevada:

 

Effective July 1, 2009, an additional assessment of $60.00 is now added to each new license application and license renewal, and will be applied to the Division’s Insurance Administration and Enforcement Account. This fee and the Insurance Administration and Enforcement Account were created by the Legislature as a result of Senate Bill 426 which was signed by the Governor on May 29, 2009. This additional assessment is separate from and in addition to any business entity affiliation fee indicated in a license application or license renewal, or the fee to add an additional line of authority.
