Michigan:

The Michigan Insurance Department, in conjunction with Prometric, has announced extensive changes to their insurance pre-licensing education curriculum outline. The announced revisions will be reflected on licensing examinations offered on and after June 1, 2009. Individuals preparing for an insurance licensing exam that will be administered on or after the announced implementation date are urged to ensure that their study materials reflect the most recent curriculum revisions. The new Licensing Information Bulletins will be available from Prometric online approximately six weeks before the test update.

Hawaii:

The Hawaii Insurance Division is adopting the national standards for licensing personal lines insurance producers (formerly known as insurance agents) and re-issuing license certificates to insurance producers who are authorized to sell personal lines insurance. Current insurance classes for Homeowners-Personal Lines (HO-PL) and Vehicle-Personal Lines (VE-PL) have been combined as Personal Lines (PL-ALL) to conform to standards of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC). New license certificates are being re-issued and will be mailed to personal lines insurance producers beginning March 20, 2009. Upon receipt of the new insurance license certificate, personal lines insurance producers are being advised to destroy their current license certificate. All other aspects of their insurance producer license (such as license renewal date, renewal fees, and continuing education due date) remain the same.

Alaska:

Under 3AAC 23.140(2), previously a licensee was not permitted to take and claim for credit any course, seminar, or program of instruction previously taken unless substantial changes had occurred in the course material. Effective immediately, a licensee may repeat a continuing education course, seminar, or program of instruction for credit, as long as the course, seminar, or program of instruction is not taken within the same license renewal period.
